I went to my very first crawdad boil last night at a friend's place. Good times! It's a lot of work for a little tidbit of meat, but they are tasty little suckers. Someone had gotten a good deal on a bunch of crawdads that were being sold as "bait-size" but were actually eating-size.
The friend who invited me requested that I bring my home-made buttermilk biscuits, which are apparently gaining near-legendary status despite just being from a recipe out of the Betty Crocker cookbook. I guess making them from scratch rather than a mix makes a lot of difference. Really, with as much shortening as goes into them, they can't help but taste good.
Someone else brought along home-made mead, which was very very tasty! Mmmmm sweet and full of spice! I wanted to drink a bunch of it, but I knew it would make for the worst hangover ever and so limited myself to two glasses.
I was also told by a fairly drunk fellow that I have a very pleasant, soothing voice. I guess that's a pretty nice complement, if an unusual one!
